Feng Shui Pictures & Photos on the Wall , Desktop & Bureau
A person can be said to be known by the friends they keep. The same can be said by the art, pictures, photos and memrobilia that they have on their walls in their home. The choice of artwork is important. So is its placement according to Feng Shui and its practitioners.
Perhaps you wish to have better and more fulfilling relationships in your life and in the life of your close family members. Smile and the world smiles along with you.
In a similar vein and manner if you take the time to choose “happy pictures” and scenes so will go your path will roll down the favorable roads of life. Thus rather than choosing art work and photos to hang up of dour scenes and unhappy grim people choose images that exhibit happy , satisfied fulfilled people , events and scenes. For example you would choose wedding scenes rather than funerals. You would be amazed what some people will hang on their walls as art work and personal memrobilia. At all costs avoid photos of natural disasters (even if you find for example the Mount Helene eruption of great merit, Hurricane Katrina a marvel of nature etc. In a similar manner do not choose depressing photos or photos and pictures of evil and bad people.
Instead choose artwork and photos of successful people whom you would choose to be role models. These can be personages alive or currently not of our physical realm or earth. Personages like Mahatma Gandhi and Martin Luther King or Einstein still hold great personal sway and positive influence in terms of morals and personal growth long after these people are gone. Thus by having their photos nearby to remind you these personages can influence you day in day out to perform positive deeds and maintain personal growth. In a similar manner many people have on their desks and walls reminders of favorite cartoon artists and even comedians who made them laugh. Some people for example think of Peter Sellers in this way, others Woody Allen. Its all personal choice and preferences. On top of that as you grown and mature and your life and perspectives change and evolve your favorite personalities and mentors may grow and morph.
Feng Shui teaches us that by arranging our environment with care, thought and planning our lives not is haphazard and aimless. By taking the care to arrange our homes and environments to focus and guide vital Chi energies we can improve the health, wealth and good fortunes of ourselves, our family and close friends. Artwork , what he have on our walls as décor and even photos on our desks and bureaus are yet one more avenue to better plan and focus our lives for positive growth , fortune and health. Feng Shui!

Saving Money & Energy Even With Old Style Incandecent Lighting
Even with old style power inefficient lighting it’s still possible to save on your energy expenditure and carbon footprints. You may be over, or staying over with your elderly and less modern thinking Uncle Max and Aunt Lydia. You spot older less energy saving old style incandescent light bulbs and make the suggestion to Uncle Max that he could be more green and greener with the newer bulbs that you can get at the local Pollock’s hardware co-op. No announces uncle – I don’t like those new Obama type bulbs. I spoke to my knowledgeable friend Mike the plumber at Garden City Shopping Center. He says that he bought some of these new light bulbs at Home Depot by Polo Park off St James. These light bulbs don’t give off light worth a hoot. Aunt Lydia needs good light for safety – she cannot see that well anymore you know. The light bulbs are dim. They don’t come on at once like good old fashioned Thomas Edison incandescent bulbs. Give me good old fashioned elbow grease. On top of that here in the north end of Wpg we are thrifty. These bulbs are expensive. They don’t last the 5 years they are supposed to. Mike says even if they last a year they get dim and dimmer after even one months use. Its one big Canadian NDP con job he says. On top of that he says that these new energy efficient bulbs are not good for the environment – green stuff and all. They are made with dangerous mercury. Once they burn out – or get dim you cannot just throw them in the garbage. One big con job he says – give me old style incandescent light bulbs. Yet as a person concerned about the environment and a sustainable future there is lots that you can do even with this rather primitive archaic thinking.
First of all perhaps you can talk dear old Uncle Maxwell into using florescent bulbs instead of tungsten filament ones. Your uncle should well go for that. These are old school and don’t contain mercury. He might think that these are next on green hit parade and perhaps it’s a wiser and brighter idea. A 25 watt fluorescent bulb gives off fully as much light as a 100 watt incandescent. Yet they use fully 75 % less energy and electric power overall. Fluorescent lamps are especially useful over kitchen counters and sinks to light bathrooms. And they give off less heat to warm up hot summertime rooms – saving on air conditioning costs and hydro power or fossil fuel created electrical wattages.
Secondly if you are replacing floor or table lamps, consider buying new ones with three way switches. With these you can keep light levels low, when intense light is not necessary , needed or wanted such as when watching television or working on the computer. If needed for reading or a sewing project light intensity can be set up a notch or two in a snap.
Next look into light dimmer switches that let you adjust the intensity of room lighting. These are both available in older mechanical as well as new fangled electronic forms.
If there are directional floodlights and lamps for security purposes – then consider that a 50 watt reflector floodlight provides as much light, but uses half the wattage of a standard 100 watt indoor older style filament light bulb. If the lighting is not for security purposes but decorative and aesthetic consider seasonal use rather than year round. A timer for off-peak and middle of the night (when no one is around to see it) can also be a wise idea.
Lastly in multi-light lamp fixtures where all the light is not needed consider asking Uncle Max if you can put in lower wattage – economical lower wattage bulbs or if you want to be sneaky just don’t replace burned out light bulbs.
We all must do our part to be green and power-smart.

Saving Electric Power & Fossil Fuels While Doing Laundry
Some simple tips to reduce power consumption and energy use while doing your laundry – either at home in your utility room or in a Laundromat are:
1) Unless your washer has a small-load attachment or variable water level, take care to fill ( but be careful not to overfill) the washing machine for each washing
2) Use the suds-saver feature if your machine has one. This feature lets you use one tubful of hot water for more than one load. Or, you can do the same thing by simply washing one load of clothes through the wash cycle, then removing them and washing a second load in the same suds. This saves both hot water and detergent.
3) Make it a solid policy and procedure not to use too much detergent. It’s not a case of if some is good, then more is better. On top of that is that to reduce packaging and trade volume sizes many commercial detergents are now concentrated? Its standard practice though too many that one capful of detergent per load. Yet with the concentrated modern fossil fuel saving, reduced plastic outlay detergents on the market – you use a lot less detergent. If you have a smaller load – then there is less liquid water in the tub and you can reduce detergent amount proportionally
4) Remember that an old fashioned clothesline can save an awful lot of energy to dry clothes. On top of that your clothes will be fresher from the outside fresh air rather than a cloistered clothes dryer
5) When you use a dryer, keep the lint screen and exhaust flow vent clean to allow for free flowing of air through the dryer, doing its job of drying your laundered clothes. Clogged screens and exhausts restrict the flow of air and cause the machine to use a lot more energy – using and wasting power and energy units needlessly. This is a sin.
6) Dry clothes in consecutive loads to take advantage of the hot dryer drum. Save small, lightweight items to dry last – you may be able to dry them after you turn off the heat, with heat retained in the dryer from earlier loads.
7) Electric clothes dryers can be vented can be vented indoors in winter. Simply remove the exhaust pipe from the outdoor vent connection , cover the end of the pipe with a piece of cheesecloth or an old nylon stocking and direct the warm air into the house to save heating energy and reduce fossil fuel heating costs.
Plug the outdoor vent to keep cold air out. Be sure to clean the cheesecloth or nylon often to maintain good air flow. Gas dryers should always be vented outside for safety.
Remember it’s in all our interests to use power and energy wisely and efficiently. By reducing energy use while doing your laundry you will be working towards that goal and goals.

Are You Smarter than an Ant Colony?
Did you know there are more than 12,000 species of ants in the world? Some of the most commonly found ants in the United States are Carpenter, Fire, Pavement, Pharaoh and Odorous House ants, and the list goes on and on. When learning about how to exterminate ants, you’ve most likely read a lot of interesting facts about ants. Some of these facts might have led you to believe that ants are pretty clever. Here are a few reasons why ants might be smarter than humans.
Ants are Surprisingly Self-Sufficient
While you may feel like ants are constantly invading your home and the fate of your family rests on you learning how to exterminate ants, you may be surprised to learn ants are very self-sufficient, and most species don’t nest indoors.
Ant colonies have a very structured hierarchy, with scout ants going out to search for food and worker ants directing other ants to the source of food. Argentine ants, for example, are smart enough to change the location of their nest depending on the weather. In warm weather, they build their nest in the shade, while in cooler months they relocate to sunny areas.
Learning How to Exterminate Ants Isn’t Easy
Ants will only enter your home when their food and water resources outside are depleted, or if there are major weather changes that cause ants to need shelter. Once ants have used all the resources in a location, they will relocate the colony. These behaviors make ants very difficult to predict and even harder to prevent.
Ants are Tough to Outsmart
When it comes time to purchase ant traps, it’s not always a smart idea to purchase the first traps you see. Different types of ants prefer different foods throughout the year based on their nutritional needs. While ants are generally attracted to sweet foods, some types of ants tend to show a preference for foods that are high in protein. If you set out to exterminate ants without doing your research, you might not have much success.
If you’ve ever wondered why ants travel in trails, it’s because they follow paths of chemical pheromones released by the scout ants that initially discovered the food source. While you can try to remove these chemical trails with soap and water, ants will just create a new trail to another source of food. Ants are stubborn creatures that are not easily thwarted. If you set out traps along their path, they might still deviate to a different food source in your home that is more desirable, like spilled food or open soda cans.
Next time you are exasperated when trying to get rid of ants in your home, don’t be too discouraged. It’s not your fault that ants are tough to outsmart.

How to Earn Money Using Your Green Thumb
Do you love gardening and working with seedlings and bulbs? If you answered yes, maybe you have never thought about putting your skill and knowledge of this field to work for you. During the summer time, you can cultivate flower bulbs and make money in the spring by selling them. Most people like flowers but growing them or even choosing the right plants for the right location is not easy for someone who doesn’t understand plants. There is nothing better than the color explosion of flowers in the summer months.
You can begin your side business with bulbs by first choosing which ones you want to grow. You can ask at your nursery for the varieties that are most popular and which ones grow best in your climate. You might want to have a variety of common bulbs and then have some exotic ones that will cost a bit more than the others. Like any other type of business, you need to know your target market. This information can come from your local wholesalers who just might be one of your customers and buying from you in the future. If you don’t want to go so far as to have a business location, you can always use a pick-up truck and park on the side of the road to sell what you have grown. You can also go online and discover when the next Craft and Garden show will take place near you. Then attend that show and sell the pre-planted bulbs that you have grown.
To have a successful business, you need to be knowledgeable and able to answer questions about your inventory. Educate yourself on the bulbs you will sell so you know which ones need to be refrigerated for a few weeks and to know what month each one will bloom in. If you are industrious, you can take this a step further and grow many types of varieties so you have an inventory to sell year round. You can get added information online from free newsletters and read all you can about the flower industry.
To get going, you will need to put out some cash to get the materials required. A real business will require a license so check with your local laws and this way you will be able to do business with wholesalers. Look online for professional organizations who can give you help and they can answer any questions you might have.
Next you will need a business card, maybe a blog and a pricing list so prospective customers will know when and where you will be selling. Why not put that green-thumb of yours to work for you and earn some money by doing what you love. You might just choose to sell bulbs or you can plant and sell but either way you can make money planting a cash crop. Then you can sit back and watch your garden wallet grow knowing it was all possible because of your green-thumb.

What are Electronic Cigarettes?
An electronic cigarette, or e-cigarette, is an electronic device that resembles a traditional cigarette in its appearance and function. Herbert A. Gilbert first patented a design for the electronic cigarette in 1963; however, due to the fact that the health concerns were not as prominent and the lack of technology at the time, the product was unsuccessful. Hon Lik, a Chinese pharmacist, designed the recent e-cigarette in 2003. The electronic cigarettes can be used in many public places, due to there being no burning required, thus eliminating the toxic smoke found with the use of tobacco cigarettes.
Some e-cigarettes are designed to look much the same as a regular cigarette, being white in color with a red light to simulate the burning ember, while others are given different aesthetics such as being black in color with a blue light. The device uses heat to vaporize a liquid into a mist, which closely resembles the smoke from a traditional cigarette, without the odor and toxins. The solution is usually contained within a replaceable cartridge, which attaches to the main portion of the device where the battery is located.
Sizes of e-cigarettes vary; however, many of these devices are a similar size to that of a regular cigarette, but are also heavier in weight. Some e-cigarettes come with a durable case that looks similar to the well-known cigarette packet, and this case often performs the function of a portable battery charger and cartridge carrier. Depending on the type of e-cigarette, the device can usually be charged by either a mains adapter, car charger or USB cable connected to a computer.
The main appeal of an e-cigarette is that it is said to have far fewer health risks compared to that of a regular cigarette. Smoking an e-cigarette is said to be far safer as it eliminates the inhalation of the 4,000 chemicals found in tobacco cigarettes today. Another appealing factor is that it is often far more cost effective to use e-cigarettes, when compared with the prices of tobacco cigarettes on the market. Many of the cartridges for e-cigarettes are said to hold the equivalent of an entire pack of 20 cigarettes in just one cartridge. The cartridges are often available in many different flavors such as traditional tobacco, cherry, menthol and coffee; they are also available in varying concentrations of nicotine, all the way down to no nicotine at all.
People who are looking to start using e-cigarettes may want to begin with a starter kit. These kits often contain various cartridges, one or more batteries and charging accessories.
If you are looking for an electronic cigarette company, visit Heavenly Vapours. Heavenly vapours is a premium supplier of the electronic cigarette with a range of option including starter kits, as well as many flavours of e-juice to get you started.
